When should I start planning for my aquatic needs?
Your aquatic therapy pool should be one of your first considerations when planning a new facility or expansion. It is important to consider early in your planning the size of the pool that you want, the space that must be allocated and how much space to plan for an equipment room. Your Vision Aquatics construction specialists and field consultants will be happy to assist you in making your decisions.
Should I have my architect or contractor meet with my pool supplier?
Definitely!! You should put your pool supplier in touch with your architect and/or contractor as soon as possible. This will help you avoid costly changes later in the process and will insure that all aspects of site preparation are considered. It will also help the pool supplier plan properly for delivery.
How often do I need to drain my pool and clean it?
This depends on your patient population and shower policies for the pool area. If your patients or athletes are required to shower prior to entering the pool it will reduce the number of times that a pool must be drained and cleaned. As you can imagine make-up, hair gel and body lotions on your patients or athletes will increase the frequency of filter cleaning and pool cleaning. At first, when your volume of patients is lower you will need to drain and clean your pool twice a year but as your patient load increases it may become necessary to drain and clean it quarterly. This is something that your Vision Aquatics field consultant can assist you with when planning your facility.
How long will it take me to empty, clean, and refill my pool?
This will be determined by the size of water lines that are planned for the pool. Your Vision Aquatics construction specialist will help you and your architect plan for the proper size lines.
What accessories will I need prior to opening my facility?
You will need exercise paddles, floating noodles, etc. These can be supplied by Vision Aquatics or through your local pool supplier. Ask us about our pool therapy accessory kits.
Where will my staff therapists be trained?
Your staff will be trained on-site by a member of the Vision Aquatics Educational Team. This could be an Athletic Trainer or Physical Therapist depending on the patient population that your facility will be serving.
Should I send my staff to training prior to getting our pool?
It is always beneficial to obtain as much training as possible prior to receiving your aquatic therapy pool. If there are training sessions at other facilities in your area prior to the shipment of your pool, the Vision Aquatics staff will notify you so you may attend. We also publish any upcoming training sessions available from other aquatic resource organizations. There may be a cost involved in attending some of those courses.
What kind of chemical management system should I use with my pool?
There are a number of chemical management systems available on the market today. Some even offer remote monitoring of your chemicals from an off-site location. Your choice will depend on the convenience level you desire. You can contact a local pool supplier to provide the system or Vision Aquatics has several choices available for you to choose from as well. Your Vision Aquatics Construction Consultant will be happy to discuss the various systems available on the market today and help you make the choice that is right for you.
